Back when Wendi of Loaves and Dishes first got in touch with me, she had left me a sweet comment below one of my Tech Tips Thursday posts over at Sustaining the Powers. She was having a technical problem, and wanted to know if I could offer her some guidance on how to solve it. We sent a few emails back and forth, she decided to pay me to do the work for her, I fixed her issue, and I went on my merry way.
Then she had another issue come up. And then she wanted to improve something. And then she asked if I wanted to tackle an entire site re-design for her because she loved my own food blog design over at Sustaining the Powers. (And then there was The Great Banana Bread Emergency, but we don’t talk about The Great Banana Bread Emergency.)
The rest is history, as they say, and here I am launching her beautiful site re-design along with my brand new business website for WordPress tech support and custom Genesis theme design. She was the motivator I needed to start doing this as my full-time job rather than just an occasional hobby or side gig. I’m happy to have found a client who has become such a great friend. Thank you for the encouragement and support Wendi!
The Details:
For this project, I worked with a designer I’d never met before, Diana Caldwell. She is a friend of Wendi’s and so great to work with. I just LOVE the red checkerboard and home-cooked vibe the design has. And that cutting board! I’ve always wanted to own one of those boards in real life because they are just perfect for entertainment. (And perfect for her new logo!) It was especially difficult to complete this design because staring at her gorgeous food photos every day made me so HUNGRY! I think I’ve been craving tortellini at least twice a week since taking on this site.
We started out with a loose base of the FoodiePro theme by Shay Bocks for this design, (could you have guessed that?) but almost everything has been custom-coded and modified to match her new, beautiful branding. Today’s launch date coincides with Wendi’s 100th recipe, and I think this is the best way to celebrate!
Hop on over to Loaves and Dishes now to check it out in person, and grab some of the banana pudding Wendi has put together to celebrate!
